School-Based Telehealth Assessment Services Deployed at Park View High School

(LEESBURG, Va., January 19, 2024) – The Williams Center for Wellness and Recovery in partnership with Loudoun County Public Schools, Office of Student Mental Health Services has deployed School-Based Telehealth Assessment Services at Park View High School as an immediate response to the increasing prevalence of fentanyl substance use disorders impacting students. Providing telehealth assessments on campus will improve access to evidence-based substance use disorder and co-occurring treatment services. The Williams Center for Wellness and Recovery and Loudoun County Public Schools clinical teams have completed training on the new telehealth platform that will be ready for use at Park View High School in the coming weeks.

“We are proud to partner directly with The Williams Center for Wellness and Recovery, Loudoun Medical Group, and other community based clinical partners to provide real-time telehealth assessment services for our students and families who have been impacted by fentanyl, opioids, and other substances in our community. Our collective goal is to deploy resources faster and more efficiently to avoid further overdoses, and to reduce barriers to care such as transportation, particularly for those that need early intervention services now.” – Jennifer Evans, M.Ed., LPC, LCPS Director of Student Mental Health Services

Throughout 2023, The Williams Center for Wellness and Recovery participated in six fentanyl awareness events alongside representatives from Loudoun County Public Schools, Office of Student Mental Health Services, and law enforcement partners. Over the course of the year, each stakeholder witnessed the staggering numbers and listened to many parents share how fentanyl has poisoned, traumatized, or killed local children. Early intervention services and accessible treatment options are necessary to bridge gaps in mental health care and address the opioid epidemic and fentanyl crisis.

“As an accredited adolescent behavioral health facility, our clinicians are accustomed to adhering to the highest quality care standards and strict HIPAA compliant privacy protocols.  We strive to reduce the stigma around mental illness and addiction to give those suffering, the space and time they need to learn, heal and grow in a safe protected environment.” – Rod Williams, CEO of The Williams Center for Wellness and Recovery

Rod Williams has assembled a Board of Directors and strategic community partners dedicated to addressing the mental health and substance use disorder opioid crisis throughout the region including partners from federal, state and local districts.

“As a founding board member, father and volunteer mentor at The Williams Center for Wellness and Recovery, I have spoken to students who have faced some very difficult experiences, some who have lost their loved ones to fentanyl overdose. I am distinctly proud of those that have taken the first steps towards recovery and asked for help. Our kids have tremendous potential, and we are here to help them succeed.” – Charles Mann

Last fall, The Williams Center for Wellness and Recovery Board of Director members gathered alongside the 200+ families at Park View High School to address the outbreak of teenagers overdosing on fentanyl.

On January 27, 2024, The Williams Center for Wellness and Recovery is supporting the Loudoun County Public School’s Mental Health and Wellness Conference from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Riverside High School located at 19019 Upper Belmont Place in Leesburg, Virginia. Medical information will be provided by The Williams Center for Wellness and Recovery and Loudoun Medical Group along with over 70 other community organizations. Charles Mann and Ken Harvey, former NFL athletes and members of the Board of Directors for The Williams Center for Wellness and Recovery will be present to share motivational messages about their mental health and wellness journeys.
